Grower Access & Fees

The Growers Pavilion, located within the South Australian Produce Market, is setup for local growers to sell and market their own produce.

Grower Definition

A “Grower” means either;

(a) a person who carries on a business of a farmer or the grower of fruit, vegetables, flowers or other horticultural products on a land area of not less than one half of a hectare in South Australia and who is carrying on a “primary production business” as defined in the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth);

(b) a co-operative, a majority of the members of which are Growers as defined in paragraph (a) above; or

(c) an Eligible Shareholder where the relevant Designated Person is either;

(i) a Grower under clause (a); or

(ii) the director of a corporation that is a Grower under clause (a); or

(iii) a Foundation Member who has been a Grower under clause (a); or

(d) a Foundation Member who has been a Grower under clause (a)

Grower Category Eligibility

To be eligible for the Grower category you will require;

  • Hold an account with South Australian Produce Market
  • ABN Registration
  • Public Liability Insurance $20M
  • Current Return to Work Cover
  • Comply with the South Australian Produce Market’s Operating Articles and Market Rules

Permanent Grower Site

Growers enter into a Licence Agreement with South Australian Produce Markets Limited (APML) for use of a particular site / area in the Growers Pavilion for an agreed period of time not less than 12 months.

A Permanent Grower account includes the following;

  • Annual access to South Australian Produce Market
  • One (1) Permanent Grower stand (3.5m x 7.5m) within the Growers Pavilion
  • Access ID Card

 

Total Permanent Grower Initial Setup Fee $5,021.01 including GST

$4,996.01          Buyer registration fee $4,996.01 per year including GST (invoiced monthly in advance)

$25.00               Access ID Card once-off setup fee (per card if more than one)

Fee for additional card holders (employees of grower):

$25.00               Access ID Card once-off setup fee (per card if more than one)

$60.00               Access ID Card site access invoiced twice yearly (per card if more than one)

Grower Restrictions

Stands are licensed for the sale of South Australian grown produce only – sale of Interstate produce is not permitted in the Growers Pavilion.

The property or farm where the produce is grown must be inspected by a Market Official prior to a Licence being issued.

Please note a South Australian Produce Market Induction must be completed successfully before Access ID Card is issued.

Casual Grower Site

Casual Growers purchase a 10 visit Casual Grower Pass which expires after 10 visits or 1 year, whichever occurs first.

A Casual Grower Pass includes the following;

  • The Casual Grower pass entitles Growers 10 visits to use a stand in the Growers Pavilion on a daily basis.
  • Casual Grower stand is approximately 3.5m x 7.5m within the Growers Pavilion
  • An Access ID Card for identification purposes only is issued with this option

$300.00             Casual Grower Pass

$25.00               Access ID Card once-off setup fee (per card if more than one)

Wholesaler

Wholesaler is a person who is a wholesaler of produce in the market and who is a Lessee holding a lease with South Australian Produce Market which contains the permitted use of a Wholesaler but who is not a Buyer with warehouse facilities, a distribution centre Lessee, a Grower or a Grower/Agent.

Wholesaler Definition

A “Wholesaler” means

(a) a person who carries on a business of the wholesale sale of fruit, vegetables, flowers or other horticultural products from lock-up premises from the market operated by the Company at Pooraka, South Australia; or

(b) an Eligible Shareholder where the relevant Designated Person is either:

(i) a Wholesaler under clause (a); or

(ii) the director of a corporation that is a Wholesaler under clause (a); or

(iii) A Foundation Member who was a Wholesaler under clause (a); or

(c) a Foundation Member who was a Wholesaler under clause (a).
