White Zucchini

We are seeing South Australian grown white zucchinis in the market.  Even though they are called white zucchinis, they are actually pale green in appearance and half the size of a green zucchini.  Their flavour is very similar however, the skin is where the difference is found being a much thinner skin.  This sweet and mild variety are a great source of Vitamin C and fibre and can be eaten raw or enjoyed stuffed, roasted, sauteed or baked.  The white zucchini is great to include in your zucchini lasagna, fritters, soups or stir-fry’s.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower is in plentiful supply so take advantage of this versatile vegetable to add to your curries, roasts or slow cooked meals.   With high quality crops, cauliflowers are not only great tasting but also affordable in your weekly shop.  Now we are in the winter months, what a better way to incorporate these low fat, high nutritional vegetable into your hearty meals.  If you have never tried cauliflower mash – you will be surprised how great this low carb substitute is. Mash up the cauliflower and add some olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and let your tastebuds enjoy!

Seedless Blood Oranges

Blood oranges are a type of citrus fruit known for their distinctive reddish-purple flesh and tangy-sweet flavour. They get their name from the deep red colour of their flesh, which is due to anthocyanins—a type of antioxidant pigment. The flavour can range from a slightly berry-like sweetness to a more tart, tangy taste and pictured here, the Red Beloved blood oranges are seedless – got to love seedless! These sweet, juicy oranges are packed full of vitamin C making them a healthy snack on their own or used in juices, salads, desserts or marmalade.  Look out for these beautiful blood oranges in your local fruit and veg store.

Coriander

Coriander is not everyone’s favourite herb but certainly adds some punch to many Asian, Oriental and Middle Eastern cooking dishes! Coriander leaves, also referred to as cilantro, are great for topping rice dishes, curries, soups, stews or salads.  Coriander leaves are often used whole in meals, whereas the seeds are used dried or ground.  Grown right here in the Northern Adelaide Plains look for fresh Coriander at your local fruit and veg store.
